Welcome Maia Kolchin-Miller

I am very happy to be joining Skaneateles Psychology Associates where I will be offering psychotherapy for teens and adults. I believe that therapy provides a unique opportunity to develop ways of responding more authentically and effectively to life’s challenges. I am very happy to be joining Skaneateles Psychology Associates where I will be offering psychotherapy for teens and adults. I believe that therapy provides a unique opportunity to develop ways of responding more authentically and effectively to life’s challenges. In my practice, I work with people who are looking to develop a greater understanding of themselves and in doing so improve the quality of their lives. My patients say therapy has helped them feel more alive and in control, cope better with change and stressful life events, and have more fulfilling relationships with work, creativity, themselves, and other people.

I work well with people suffering from anxiety, depression, and mood issues, as well as relationship, career, and identity issues. I have particular experience in working with life transitions, including transition to college and post-college transitions. I look forward to being part of Skaneateles Psychology Associates and serving the needs of the community.

Online Therapy

In response to Covid-19 (Coronavirus), Skaneateles Psychology Associates has launched Telehealth sessions to offer a safer way to see your provider from the comfort of your own home during these difficult times. Our therapists are licensed to provide services to residents of New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

Skaneateles Psychology Associates features a secure, HIPAA-compliant platform for online therapy sessions that is fully integrated into your patient portal. Our providers offer the full array of personalized, effective, and evidence-based behavioral health services that are available in-person through telehealth.  You can receive access to your provider from any device that connects to the internet.

Our therapists are licensed to provide services to residents of New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

ONLINE THERAPY FAQ:

1. WHAT IS AN ONLINE APPOINTMENT LIKE?

An online appointment is just like a regular appointment. You sit in front of the camera on your device (computer, tablet, or phone) where you will be able to see yourself and your SPA provider. Once you have started your appointment, patients and providers will interact, just as they would for a traditional office appointment.

2. I HAVE AN APPOINTMENT. HOW DO I PREPARE?

Make sure to check your internet connection 5-10 minutes before your scheduled appointment. You log into your patient portal and be sure you are ready to click on the link to access the session.

3. ARE ONLINE SESSIONS COVERED BY INSURANCE?

Most insurers currently cover online visits in the same way they would cover in-person visits.  Check with your insurer to inquire about your individual coverage.

4.  ARE THE APPOINTMENTS PRIVATE AND SECURE?

At SPA, patient privacy and protection is our top priority. Just like a visit to the office to see your provider, online services are entirely confidential and compliant with HIPAA regulations.

5.  WHAT HAPPENS IF I AM NOT ABLE TO CONNECT?

As a result of the pandemic situation we are experiencing and the increased demand for online services occasionally our HIPAA compliant telehealth servers are overloaded.  State and federal regulations have been broadened during this time so that we are permitted to utilize other servers as a backup if necessary.
