Comprehensive Autism Spectrum Evaluation

Our Comprehensive Autism Evaluation is designed to give families clear, evidence‑based answers about autism and related challenges, and to translate those answers into practical recommendations for home, school, and treatment.

The process follows current professional guidelines for best practices for psychological testing, which emphasize integrating information from clinical interviews, standardized tests, behavioral observations, and collateral reports, and providing results through a written report and interactive feedback session.

First Appointment

Intake Interview and Initial Testing

At the first visit, we meet with parents/caregivers (and the child or teen when appropriate) for a detailed clinical interview. We review developmental history, medical and educational background, current concerns, and your goals for the evaluation. During this same appointment, we begin the test battery, which typically includes caregiver questionnaires and initial standardized measures of social communication, behavior, and thinking skills.

Second Appointment

Second Testing Session

The second visit focuses on structured assessment of autism‑related social and communication skills, everyday behavior, and adaptive functioning. This often includes a semi‑structured interaction with your child (for example, an observational measure of social communication) and additional questionnaires or rating scales that help us understand functioning across settings.

Some children need an additional session to complete the battery comfortably. If more time is needed, we schedule a third testing session so we can finish the measures without rushing and keep the experience a positive one for your child.

Third Appointment (If Needed)

Scoring, Interpretation, and Integration

After testing is complete, we score all measures and review the full set of data alongside the clinical interview, behavioral observations, parent and teacher rating scales, and any prior records you’ve shared.

Consistent with psychological assessment standards, this step involves interpretation of standardized test results and integration with other clinical information to answer the referral questions, clarify diagnosis, and guide treatment planning.

Written Report: We then prepare a detailed written report that summarizes history, test findings, and diagnostic impressions in clear, accessible language. The report highlights your child’s strengths as well as areas of challenge and provides concrete recommendations for home, school, and any needed therapies or supports.

Finally, you return for a feedback session to review the results and report together. We walk through the findings, explain any diagnoses, answer questions, and collaborate on next steps. Feedback is considered an essential part of the evaluation process and is included in the assessment rather than a separate service.
